Colorado lost one of its top recruits to a different school in the 2026 recruiting class on Tuesday.
Four-star tight end Gavin Mueller, who had been committed to Colorado since May, flipped his commitment to Miami on Tuesday.
“I hold the pen, but He writes the story. Go Canes,” Mueller told Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett.
Mueller is the eighth-best recruit in Illinois and the No. 11 tight end recruit in the country, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He is also the No. 248 overall recruit in the nation.
This recruit helped Miami improve to No. 11 in the country for 2026 recruiting classes, per 247Sports. Meanwhile, Colorado has the No. 87 overall recruiting class.
It’s been a rough year for the Buffaloes, who are now 3-7. They’re coming off a 29-22 loss at the hands of the West Virginia Mountaineers on Nov. 8.
Head coach Deion Sanders is in his third season and has a 16-19 overall record. His best season came in 2024, when he finished 9-4 despite losing in the Alamo Bowl.
His Buffaloes won’t be heading to a bowl this year, but they’ll still try to finish on a winning note. They have games against the Arizona State Sun Devils and the Kansas State Wildcats to end the regular season.
The Buffaloes will play the Sun Devils on Nov. 22 and the Wildcats on Nov. 29. Kickoff for this Saturday’s matchup is set for 8 p.m. ET.
