Deion Sanders Dismisses Players from Colorado Roster After Northwestern Loss

Colorado coach Deion Sanders followed through on his warning after Saturday’s loss to Northwestern, removing players from the Buffaloes roster.

Sanders revealed on Tuesday that some of his players are no longer with the team for conduct detrimental to the Buffaloes. However, Sanders did not identify the dismissed players.

“There’s a few guys who aren’t on the team anymore, just so you know,” Sanders said.

The decision came days after Sanders expressed anger over seeing players laughing following Colorado’s 41-7 loss at Northwestern.

“I don’t understand how in the world you can find joy, or you can find a laughing matter when I’m right behind you walking into the locker room,” Sanders said. “I don’t understand that, and I addressed it, and I’m going to put my foot in it, not on it.”

Sanders made it clear Tuesday that the dismissals were not based on one single incident.

“It’s never one (incident),” Sanders said. “I’m one of the most loving and giving and forgiving men you could ever meet, but when you start having conduct detrimental to the team, you don’t care about the team, you care about you. I have a problem with that. A year ago, I didn’t put my foot down in it enough. It lingered a little bit. Then, it imploded. I’m not doing that anymore.”

Colorado fell to 2-1 after the Week 3 defeat, committing four turnovers and allowing 423 yards.
