Deion Sanders shares wild airplane story behind Colorado transfer add

A remarkable story has emerged from Boulder involving Deion Sanders, the Colorado Buffaloes, and a new transfer portal addition.

Recently on Thee Pregame Show, Buffs head coach Deion Sanders shared the story of a future Buff who approached him at the airport and later on an airplane a few weeks ago. This was before the transfer portal had even opened, which makes the whole thing even wilder. The young man introduced himself to Coach Prime and told him he could play, confidently calling himself a legitimate football player.

Sanders was skeptical at first but decided to call his Director of Player Personnel, Darius Darden-Box, asking him to check out the young man’s film. Less than five minutes later, the response came back.

“This kid can play,” Box texted Sanders.

He then got up in the middle of the flight, went back to speak with the young man, and exchanged information with him. Before long, he was on campus for a visit to Colorado.

That young man was former Bowling Green linebacker Gideon Lampron. Lampron later called the encounter “a sign from God” in a DNVR interview and said he truly believed it was fate.

As of yesterday, that belief became reality, as Lampron is set to suit up for the Buffaloes next season. It is truly wild that this probably isn’t the first time someone has crossed paths with Deion Sanders and asked for a chance, but for it to actually work out like this is quite the story.

Fast forward to this week, and that chance has a name and a résumé. Lampron is a three-star transfer who is now officially committed to Colorado. An all-time crazy story that somehow ended perfectly for both sides.
