Ahead of the start of Delaware State’s football season on Thursday, DeSean Jackson has named Ui Ale QB 1. His decision ends a high-stakes quarterback battle featuring Coastal Carolina QB Samari Collier, returning QB Jayden Sauray, and former Delaware State quarterback Marqui Adams, who returned to the team after entering the transfer portal in 2025.
Jackson announced the decision on Monday during the MEAC Coaches Call.
“Ui has emerged as the starter right now,” Jackson said. “Over the past week and a half or two weeks, he’s emerged as the No. 1 starter…We feel very confident that he can come in and win us a game,” Jackson said. “Those guys have been taking command and taking the load off our offensive line.”

Ale spent last season as Troy’s third-string quarterback, seeing limited action with a lone appearance at Buffalo, where he completed 5-of-10 passes for 54 yards and added three rushing yards on six carries. Before landing at Troy, he spent two seasons at Houston, where he saw the field in five total games across 2023 and 2024.
His most productive stretch came during his redshirt sophomore year in 2024, when he completed 10-of-13 passes for 112 yards and a touchdown without throwing an interception, highlighted by a career-high seven completions for 74 yards and a score against UNLV.
His path to Houston began at Golden West College, where he threw for 1,335 yards and 12 touchdowns as a freshman in 2023, connecting on 111-of-204 attempts. He turned in one of his best outings that season against Southwestern, throwing for 297 yards and three touchdowns, and found the end zone in seven of his final eight games.
Ale honed his game at Carson High School, playing three seasons under his father, Arnold, including a sophomore campaign in which he threw for 1,331 yards and 12 touchdowns while also contributing 103 rushing yards.
Now he prepares to lead the Hornets against Stony Brook and jump-start the second campaign for Jackson after a successful and historic 8-4 season. They were one game away from winning the MEAC championship and clinching a bid to the Cricket Celebration Bowl.
