Despite Penn State really struggling to begin the 2026 football season, Saturday at Beaver Stadium is expected to draw one of the biggest crowds ever in the history of the Penn State program.
The Nittany Lions and the No. 19 USC Trojans are in the annual White Out in Happy Valley, and all week long, it has been a major mystery what the environment was going to look like. Not only have the Nittany Lions gotten off to a horrible start, but they also watched ticket prices for this game drop nearly 80 percent this week.
The White Out game is historically the best night of the season for the Nittany Lions. At the start of this season, this night had all the makings of an amazing, College Football Playoff-defining night for two storied programs.
As of Friday night, Penn State reported that they have over 110,000 tickets out for this game. This would mark a record inside Beaver Stadium.
Instead, the Nittany Lions totally fell off the wagon and are grasping for life at the midway point of the season. On the other side of the field, Lincoln Riley's USC Trojans are fighting just as hard for their rightful spot in the College Football landscape. They took a major step back when they were upended by the Oregon Ducks a few weeks ago, but on the fight back.
Friday update on the Beaver Stadium attendance front:
Per a Penn State spokesperson… PSU has over 110K tickets out for the White Out vs. USC. That's the most tickets out in the history of PSU football.

Regardless of what Penn State is like from a football perspective, this is going to be a really hard game for the Trojans to compete in. They have to fly cross-country into a hostile environment on a Saturday night.
For Penn State, this is as close to a must-win as you're going to get. The start of Matt Campbell's Big Ten resume has been pretty dreadful. The Nittany Lions kicked it off with one of the worst losses you will see when they blew their game against the Wisconsin Badgers.
Then they got boatraced by the Northwestern Wildcats the following week to make things that much worse. If they want to avoid a total free fall this season, they are going to have to find a way to win on Saturday Night's game.
To do that, they are going to need their offense to find any kind of life. Quarterback Rocco Becht has been dreadful in his first two Big Ten contests, and the result has been less than stellar for the Nittany Lions offense.
The defense has held serve, but they all need to be clicking on all cylinders on Saturday to get the job done.
It's the biggest game of Penn State's season tonight, and it will be in front of the biggest crowd in Penn State history. Hopefully, it will be enough for the Nittany Lions to get the job done.
