The Texas Tech football team is on its final open date of the 2025 season as the Red Raider gear up for the home stretch of what’s been a historic season.
Dominating UCF 48-9 in the home finale moved the Red Raiders (10-1, 7-1) up to No. 6 in both national polls on Sunday. In last weeks’ College Football Playoff rankings, Texas Tech was ranked sixth overall and on track to host a CFP game inside Jones AT&T Stadium.
Alabama, which was ranked No. 4 in last week’s CFP poll, lost to Oklahoma and was expected to take a tumble in the latest reveal. Did the Crimson Tide’s loss help the Red Raiders‘ cause?
Where did Texas Tech football land in the Nov. 18 CFP rankings?
The Red Raiders moved up to No. 5 in the latest College Football Playoff rankings, up a spot from last week’s No. 6 position. Alabama, ranked No. 4 last week, fell to No. 10 and on the projected cutline for getting into the CFP field.
Four other Big 12 Conference teams made this week’s rankings, including No. 11 BYU, No. 12 Utah, No. 23 Houston and No. 25 Arizona State. Texas Tech is 3-1 against this group, earning wins against the three highest-ranked Big 12 teams and losing at Arizona State without starting quarterback Behren Morton.
