Diego Pavia of Vanderbilt football named SEC Offensive Player of the Year

Vanderbilt football quarterback Diego Pavia was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Year by the league’s coaches, becoming the first Commodore to win the award since Jay Cutler in 2005.

Pavia, along with tight end Eli Stowers, was also named First Team All-SEC by the coaches.

Pavia is 242-for-340 passing for 3,192 yards in 12 games this season and added on 826 rushing yards on 152 carries for a total of 4,018 yards. Pavia ranked first in the SEC in several stats, including completion percentage (71.2%), passing touchdowns (27), points responsible for (218), yards per passing attempt (9.39) and total offense. He is also tops among SEC quarterbacks in rushing yards (826) and rushing touchdowns (nine).

Pavia is also a finalist for the Heisman Trophy and will be in New York for the ceremony Dec. 13.

Vanderbilt under Pavia in 2025 had its best season ever, with a 10-2 regular season record. The Commodores will finish their season by facing Iowa (8-4) in the ReliaQuest Bowl in Tampa on Dec. 31 (11 a.m. CT, ESPN).

Vanderbilt coach Clark Lea was also named the league’s Coach of the Year.
