Diego Pavia Still Facing Criticism For Heisman Trophy Behavior

The 2025 Heisman Trophy winner was announced on Saturday night.

Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza won the prestigious individual award. Mendoza topped the rest of the field, which included Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin, Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia and Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love, at the Heisman Trophy ceremony in New York city on Saturday night.

Mendoza became the first Indiana Hoosiers player to win the award since its inception in 1935. He finished with 2,362 points, including 643 first-place votes, topping Pavia (1,435 points), Love (719 points) and Sayin (432 points).

"I haven't seen the numbers yet," Mendoza said. "But it's such an honor to be mentioned with these guys [Pavia, Love and Sayin]. It's really a credit to our team. It's a team award."

But while Mendoza won the award, Pavia ended up going viral for his behavior on social media.

Earlier in the weekend, Pavia was criticized for wearing headphones, with some fans suggesting that it was "classless" behavior.

"Dude take the headphone off your ears you’re at THE HEISMAN CEREMONIES," one fan wrote.

Pavia was continuously called out for his behavior at the Heisman Trophy ceremonies

Pavia later faced criticism for bluntly declaring that he was the best player in college football history.

"ME!" he responded.

College football fans are criticizing him.

"There’s a fine line between confidence and arrogance," one fan wrote.

"Bro is 25 years old," another fan wrote.

"You couldn't pay me to draft him as an NFL GM," one fan added.

"On a real note, Thank God he didn’t run the Heisman lol woulda been a slap In the face to every past winner …," one fan added.
