Disney actress Carla Jeffrey, best known for ‘Zombies,’ dies at age 33

Jeffrey, who made her debut in 2006’s “Phat Girlz” alongside Mo’Nique, had a recurring role on the hit HBO series “Curb Your Enthusiasm” but became beloved thanks to starring in three Disney Channel “Zombies” films and an animated series.
Carla Jeffrey, an actress who starred in the 2018 Disney Channel film “Zombies” and several spinoffs, died on Tuesday (Sept. 1). She was 33 years old.
Her management company, Alexanders Talent, shared a post about her death on Instagram without revealing her cause of death.
“Our hearts are broken as we mourn the loss of our beloved Carla Jeffery,” the statement began. “For more than 20 years, Carla was part of the Alexanders Talent Management family, and watching her grow from a talented young girl into the beautiful, vibrant woman and actress she became was an incredible privilege. We will remember her infectious smile, her laughter, her talent, and the beautiful light she carried everywhere she went.
“Our deepest love and condolences are with Carla’s family and loved ones. We ask that their privacy be respected during this incredibly difficult time. Rest beautifully, Carla. You will be deeply missed and forever loved,” the statement continued.
Jeffrey got her big break at age 12, appearing in Mo’Nique’s 2006 film “Phat Girlz”. From there, she had small roles in shows such as “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” “Uncle Buck,” and “American Vandal.” She added more TV credits later on, appearing as Keyshia Black for ten episodes of HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and portrayed Janila on the TNT police drama “Southland.”
However, Jeffrey was best known for “Zombies,” the 2018 film in which she starred as Bree Prattle, an aspiring cheerleader who became friends with Meg Donnelly’s character, Addison. The success of the show spawned two live-action sequels, “Zombies 2” and “Zombies 3,” along with an animated series, “Zombies: The Re-Animated Series.”
