Memphis football has a bit of a break before the final game of the regular season.

The Tigers (8-3, 4-3 American Conference) have an open week ahead of their regular-season finale against Navy on Thanksgiving Day (6:30 p.m., ESPN). The Midshipmen (9-2, 6-1) are still alive in the conference title race and need to beat the Tigers to have a shot at getting there.

Memphis’ season has taken a negative turn over the past month. The Tigers lost to UAB on Oct. 18, then climbed back into the conference title picture with back-to-back wins over USF and Rice. That was enough to put Memphis inside the projected playoff field for the first edition of the College Football Playoff rankings on Nov. 4.

But the Tigers lost back-to-back games against Tulane and ECU after that, and now they’re a week away from concluding another regular season that will end without a conference title game appearance.

Is Memphis playing today?

Memphis is off after losing 31-27 to ECU on Nov. 15.
