The finalists are set for the 2025 Indiana Mr. Football award.
Indiana Football Coaches Association members will have five players to choose from for the top high school football award for seniors: Warren Central defensive lineman Jerimy Finch Jr., Heritage Hills’ quarterback/defensive back Jett Goldsberry, Fort Wayne Northrop wide receiver Jerquaden Guilford, Decatur Central receiver/defensive back Kasmir Hicks and Knox quarterback/defensive back Myles McLaughlin.
Voting will open this week to IFCA members. Here is a closer look at the finalists for Mr. Football:
Jerimy Finch Jr., Warren Central
The 6-3, 280-pound Tennessee recruit helped Warren Central to an 8-5 season and its first regional title since 2018. Finch finished his senior season with 85 tackles (58 solo), including 23 tackles for loss and 7½ sacks. He also had a safety and a punt return for a touchdown and pitched in on offense with two rushing touchdowns.
Finch also had a big junior season with 92 tackles (57 solo), 24 TFLs and seven sacks. For his career, he finished with 273 tackles, 67 TFLs and 26½ sacks.
Jett Goldsberry, Heritage Hills
The 6-foot, 200-pound Goldsberry did a lot of everything for Heritage Hills during his four-year career, which included a Class 3A state championship as a junior and a 4A regional title as a senior. The Purdue commit passed for 2,017 yards and 25 TDs and ran for 1,355 yards and 31 TDs this season, while posting 45 tackles (10 TFLs), three sacks and one interception.
Goldsberry set career program records for rushing touchdowns (85), rushing yards (4,616), passing touchdowns (70) and passing yards (5,420). He finished with 257 tackles, five caused fumbles and four interceptions.
Jerquaden Guilford, Fort Wayne Northrop
The 6-4, 185-pound Guilford caught 54 passes for 1,073 yards and 14 touchdowns as a senior to lead Northrop to a six-win turnaround in an 8-3 season. It was Northrop’s first winning season since 2003. Guilford also ran for 96 yards and four TDs and had 19 tackles and one interception on defense.
The Ohio State recruit finished his career with 115 receptions for 2,003 yards and 21 touchdowns. Guilford also had 145 rushing yards and five rushing TDs and 25 tackles on defense with two interceptions.
Kasmir Hicks, Decatur Central
The 5-11, 175-pound Hicks, the Marion County Defensive Player of the Year and Mid-State Conference Player of the Year, was a two-way star for the Hawks, helping his team to a 9-3 record and Class 6A sectional title as a senior. He had 687 rushing yards and 11 rushing TDs as a senior, along with 33 catches for 463 yards and three TDs, and 39 tackles and three interceptions on defense.
The Indiana recruit helped Decatur Central win a 5A state title as a junior. His two-year totals are 1,213 rushing yards and 16 rushing TDs, 1,377 receiving yards and 16 receiving TDs, and 811 return yards and six special teams/defensive TDs. Hicks also had 103 tackles and eight career interceptions.
Myles McLaughlin, Knox
The 5-10, 190-pound senior broke the state’s career rushing record with 11,839 yards to finish third on the all-time national list. This season, McLaughlin ran for 4,846 yards and 71 touchdowns to lead Knox to the Class 3A semistate. He also had 66 tackles and eight interceptions this season.
The Murray State recruit was named the Gatorade Player of the Year for Indiana. He finished his career with 13,072 total yards and 174 TDs, along with 200 tackles and 15 interceptions.
