After a visit last weekend, the Oregon Ducks are reportedly among the top contenders to land 2027 4-star cornerback Josiah Molden.
The West Linn, Ore., native has strong family ties to the Oregon program. His father, Alex Molden was a star in the Oregon Ducks secondary during his time as a Duck.
A four-year starter, Molden helped lead Oregon to Rose and Cotton Bowl appearances in 1994 and 1995. He left Oregon as the program leader with 60 passes broken up and eighth in interceptions (11) while being named a first-team All-American in 1995.
Molden went on to be selected 11th overall in the 1996 NFL draft, spending eight season in the NFL and intercepting 12 passes and tallying 252 tackles. He was inducted into the Oregon Hall of Fame in 2008.
Now, head coach Dan Lanning and Oregon are surging in his sons recruitment, per Rivals’ Adam Gorney.
“(Saturday) was great,” Molden said. I’ve been there a lot but this time I felt it was special. Learned a lot of new things within the academic part which was really great. When I got there the coaches introduced themselves, got some good food and then we watched the women’s (basketball) game. I got to spend a lot of time with the coaches which was really good.”

Molden is the No. 20 cornerback and No. 193 player nationally in the 2027 class — making him a significant in-sttae recruit for the Ducks to nail down as a commit.
As for the changing landscape of the Oregon coordinators, which has included Chris Hampton taking over for Tosh Lupoi at defensive coordinator, Molden isn’t worried about the change.
“All the coaches that left are going to be head coaches which is good,” he said. “Hamp had nothing but good things to say. He was moved up to their DC and it’s going to be very smooth with him. He had nothing but great things to say.”
Speaking to importance of the visit, the Oregon native lamented that it’s getting close to commitment time.
“I would say (Lanning is) pushing a little bit toward a commitment,” he said. “It’s kind of getting to that time. He was continuing to put out all the positives and having my family living here and saying everything a really great head coach would say to a recruit.”
As of now, Molden has no set date for when he will announce his commitment.
