Few atmospheres beat a jam-packed college football stadium on a fall gameday. Some of the game's iconic venues create a major advantage for the nation's most prestigious programs.
EA Sports will try to recreate those pressure-cooked atmospheres in College Football 27. Ahead of the video game's release, the developer ranked college football's "toughest places to play."
The SEC and Big Ten unsurprisingly dominated the rankings. Here's a look at the 10 toughest stadiums:
- Tiger Stadium (LSU)
- Ohio Stadium (Ohio State)
- Beaver Stadium (Penn State)
- Sanford Stadium (Georgia)
- Bryant-Denny Stadium (Alabama)
- Autzen Stadium (Oregon)
- Ben Hill Griffin Stadium (Florida)
- Neyland Stadium (Tennessee)
- Memorial Stadium (Clemson)
- Kyle Field (Texas A&M)
College football's toughest stadiums
Operating for over a century, few venues have hosted as many marquee moments at Tiger Stadium. LSU has claimed four national championships, most recently going undefeated behind Joe Burrow and Co. in 2019.
Texas A&M blew out LSU at Baton Rouge last October, but the Tigers are 19-2 at home over the last three seasons. Along with a rematch against the Aggies, LSU will host Clemson, Texas, and Alabama in a challenging 2026 schedule.
Ohio State suffered a grueling home loss to Michigan to end the 2024 regular season before embarking on a national championship run. The Buckeyes responded by going 7-0 in Columbus last year, including a Week 1 win over the top-ranked Longhorns.
On the other hand, Penn State went a modest 4-3 at Beaver Stadium last season. Matt Campbell will look to reinsert the Nittany Lions' success at University Park.
Georgia has gone 38-3 at home over the last five seasons, outscoring the opposition by 25.5 points per game. Meanwhile, Alabama is a remarkable 76-7 at Bryant-Denny Stadium in the last decade.
EA Sports reveals top NCAA teams
EA Sports also unveiled the top-rated teams in College Football 27. Indiana's Memorial Stadium only ranked as the 17th-toughest place to play, but the Hoosiers tied the Buckeyes for the game's second-highest team rating (90) behind Oregon (91).
After those Big Ten juggernauts, Notre Dame and Texas round out the top five at 89. Miami, LSU, and Ole Miss each received an 88 rating, and Georgia, Oklahoma, and Texas Tech boast an 87.
