Eagles' Offensive Coordinator Search Hits a Snag as Charlie Weis Jr. Stays at LSU

Following a season that saw them get bounced out of the Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs, the Philadelphia Eagles fired offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo.

Tabbed as the replacement for the Eagles after Kellen Moore left for the New Orleans Saints head coaching gig, Patullo was unable to replicate any sort of success that the Eagles had in past years. In fact, they saw declines in scoring as they went from seventh to No. 19 in the NFL, and they also saw their once-dominant rushing attack go from No. 2 to No. 18.

Head coach Nick Sirianni did attempt to poach Charlie Weis Jr. from LSU, but for the second time in the past month or so, he chose to stick with Lane Kiffin, as confirmed by ESPN’s Dianna Russini.

“LSU offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. spoke to the Philadelphia Eagles about their offensive coordinator vacancy but informed the team he has chosen to remain with Lane Kiffin and the Tigers, per sources,” wrote Russini.

Weis called plays for an Ole Miss team in 2025 that ranked No. 3 in college football in yards per game (482.3), No. 11 in points per game (36.1) and No. 8 in yards per play (6.6).

The Rebels also had the best season in program history, finishing 13-2 and reaching the College Football Playoff Final Four. Weis was one of the handful of staff members that was able to remain with the team after Kiffin left for the LSU head coaching role.

As for the Eagles, they will need to look elsewhere to find a coach willing to rebuild what was an underwhelming offense led by quarterback Jalen Hurts.
