The Eagles continue to make additions to their defensive coaching staff, and according to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports, Philadelphia is expected to hire Army defensive line coach Allen Smith as an assistant outside linebackers coach. Prior to joining the Army coaching staff in 2025, Smith had a three-year stint (2022-24) at Georgia State, where he served as the defensive line coach.

Prior to his time at Georgia State, Smith served for one season as an assistant defensive line coach with the Houston Texans in 2021. Before that, he was the defensive line coach at Wofford for three years, from 2018 to 2020, where he played a key role in leading the Terriers to consecutive appearances in the NCAA FCS playoffs in 2018 and 2019.

Smith was an exceptional defensive lineman at Wofford, helping the Terriers reach four consecutive NCAA FCS playoff appearances. During his time at Wofford, the team captured Southern Conference (SoCon) championships in 2010 and 2012. As a senior, he served as team captain, playing under Nate Woody, who was the defensive coordinator at Wofford from 2000 to 2012 and later took on the same role at Army.
