Elite 5-star recruit has a connection to Tennessee that could pay off in a big way for the Vols

The Tennessee Vols are one of several programs in the mix for 2027 five-star offensive lineman Caden Moss.
Moss, 6-foot-5/311 pounds from Jackson, MS, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 4 offensive tackle in the nation and the No. 1 player in the state of Mississippi. He’s also rated as the No. 15 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class.
Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, Ole Miss, and Florida are also in the mix for Moss.
Caden Moss has an important connection to Tennessee
A big reason why Tennessee is a program to watch for Moss is because of an important connection the five-star recruit has to the Vols’ coaching staff.
Moss told On3 this week that his high school offensive line coach, Case Cook, played for current Tennessee offensive line coach Glen Elarbee in college.
Additionally, Vols offensive analyst Kevin Pendleton played with Cook in college (Elarbee coached Cook and Pendleton at Missouri when he served as the Tigers’ offensive line coach….UT head coach Josh Heupel was Mizzou’s offensive coordinator at the time).
“So coach (Glen) Elarbee coached my high school offensive line coach in college,” said Moss to On3. “Coach (Kevin) Pendleton played with my OL coach so I have a great relationship with those guys and a really strong connection.”
There is still a long way to go in this recruiting battle, but the Vols are in a good spot for Moss, who visited Tennessee a couple of times this past season.
Tennessee, for now at least, should be among the final schools for Moss whenever the time comes for the talented offensive lineman to commit.
