One of the premier high school football players will begin the 2026 season on the sidelines.

Elite five-star wide receiver Jamier Brown — an Ohio State commit — has been handed a two-game suspension by the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) due to rule violations, which has been confirmed by USA TODAY Sports.

"I can confirm that the student-athlete was suspended for the first two games of the season, which is the result of two separate and unrelated violations this past summer," OHSAA Director of Media Operations Tim Stried said in an email to USA TODAY. "We are not able to share additional details at this time until our Board of Directors meeting next week"

He will miss the first two games of the season for Wayne High School (Huber Heights, Ohio).

That means Brown — the No. 26 overall prospect in the USA TODAY 2027 Composite Rankings — will miss the Warriors' season opener at Fairfield on Friday, Aug. 21, and the matchup against Cincinnati St. Xavier on Aug. 28.

He will be eligible to return to action on Sept. 4 against St. Edward.

Brown had transferred to Big Walnut High School in January, where he helped the track and field team win an OHSAA state championship in the spring. He, however, transferred back to Wayne ahead of the football season.

As a junior, Brown caught 73 passes for 1,009 yards with 10 touchdowns, while also carrying the ball 10 times for 83 yards and two more scores. He also scored four times on special teams (three kickoff returns, one punt return). As a sophomore, he had 63 catches for 1,035 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Brown has been committed to the Buckeyes since Nov. 23, 2024.
