Former Georgia Bulldogs safety commitment Kealan Jones has flipped his commitment to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Jones, a member of the class of 2026, had been committed to Georgia since April 2025.

Jones’ decommitment drops Georgia’s recruiting class to 30 total commitments. Georgia and coach Kirby Smart still have the second-best recruiting class in the country and the best class in the SEC following Jones’ decision.

The three-star safety is a nice addition for Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets have the No. 46 recruiting class in the 2026 cycle, per 247Sports. Georgia Tech has 19 total commitments. Jones is Georgia Tech’s fourth-best commitment.

The talented safety plays high school football for Sprayberry High School in Marietta, Georgia. Jones is the No. 545 recruit in America, the No. 44 safety and the No. 58 prospect in Georgia. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound defender should have more opportunities for early playing time at Georgia Tech.

Following Jones’ decommitment, Georgia is down to two safety commitments in four-stars Zech Fort and Jordan Smith. It is unclear if Georgia will look to add another safety.

Kealan Jones’ commitment announcement

Jones’ decision comes right before the early signing period, which runs Wednesday, Dec. 2 to Friday, Dec. 4.
