The Tennessee Volunteers landed a big time offensive line commit on Saturday. Tennessee has been on fire on the recruiting trail the last week and they show no signs of slowing down.
The Tennessee Vols landed a big offensive line commit on Saturday afternoon.
2027 four-star offensive tackle Q’Mari Hudson announced his commitment to Tennessee.
Hudson, 6-foot-5/330 pounds from Chesapeake, VA, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 40 offensive tackle in the nation and the No. 9 player in the state of Virginia.
The four-star recruit committed to the Volunteers over Virginia Tech.
Q’Mari Hudson is a big fan of Tennessee offensive line coach Glen Elarbee
A big reason why Hudson committed to Tennessee over an in-state school is because of Vols offensive line coach Glen Elarbee.
Hudson told On3’s Chad Simmons that getting to play for Elarbee helped Tennessee a lot in this recruiting battle.
"The coaches were the main part, especially Coach Elarbee. I know I'm going to be around him a whole lot, and every time I talk to him, it's always a genuine conversation,” said Hudson. "Coach Elarbee is a great guy from every standpoint… I trust that guy and he trusts me. Sometimes he doesn't even recruit me. He just talks to me as a man, and I like that. Playing for him was something that really helped Tennessee.”
Elarbee is essentially joined at the hip with Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel. He’s the only offensive line coach that Heupel’s ever had as a head coach (and he was Missouri’s offensive line coach for the two seasons that Heupel was the Tigers’ offensive coordinator).
So yeah, it’s a good thing that recruits feel this way about Elarbee. The offensive line, after all, is where success begins in the SEC. If you can’t win up front, you can’t win in this conference. It’s that simple.
