Eltonino Hicks commits to UConn football

Three-star defensive back Eltonino Hicks committed to UConn via X Friday night. The St. James (VA) product is the second Class of 2027 commit for the Huskies.

In total, 18 programs showed interest in Hicks, including Virginia Tech, South Carolina, Syracuse, Colorado State, West Virginia, and Toledo.

Hicks received an offer on March 10, 2026, from Connecticut’s linebacker coach Mickey Jacobs. Before committing to the Huskies, the 6-foot-2, 185-pound defensive back was scheduled to take an official visit on June 5.

Heading into his senior year, the Virginia native is ranked No. 1,101 nationally, No. 113 at safety, and No. 15 in Virginia. Prior to transferring to St. James Performance Academy and reclassifying to the 2027 class, Hicks played for Rock Creek Christian Academy. With his 6-foot-2 frame, he is considered a versatile and physical defensive back.
