ESPN analyst names two Colorado transfers among Big 12's best

Colorado‘s transfer portal class has received high praise throughout the offseason, with many national outlets ranking it among the top 20.

ESPN’s Bill Connelly has been particularly complimentary, ranking the Buffaloes’ portal haul as the No. 3 overall class. In his recently published Big 12 preview, he listed his 10 favorite transfers in the conference, and two Colorado players made the cut: Wide receiver Kam Perry and linebacker Gideon Lampron.

Breaking down Kam Perry and Gideon Lampron’s potential impact

Perry, a transfer from Miami (OH), is an explosive slot wideout who averaged a whopping 22.7 yards per catch on just 2.8 yards per route. His yards after catch ability is something not many other receivers can replicate and will be a huge weapon in Brennan Marion’s Go-Go offense.

Lampron, a Bowling Green transfer, one could argue, was the top off-ball linebacker in the FBS last season. He did not win the Butkus Award, but his sideline-to-sideline athleticism and tackling ability could have him in the conversation this year, especially with the jump up to the Power Four level. Lampron racked up 123 tackles in 2025 to go along with 18.5 tackles for loss.

Both players are also leaders on their respective sides of the ball, a trait that Colorado desperately needs after falling short in that area last season.

Other players making Connelly’s top 10 are West Virginia running back Cam Cook, Kansas State DE Wendell Gregory, Texas Tech outside linebacker Adam Trick, UCF quarterback Alonza Barnett III, Baylor defensive tackle Hosea Wheeler, Texas Tech wide receiver Malcolm Simmons, Iowa State wide receiver Omari Hayes and Kansas State linebacker Mekhi Mason.
