Texas A&M's 2026 season is going down the tubes, as the Aggies sit at 3-3 and 1-3 in the SEC after losing to Missouri 27-6 in a game that was not on the defense, as starting quarterback Marcel Reed's struggles continued, throwing for 187 yards and two interceptions, while the Aggie running game produced just 29 yards and averaged 1.3 yards per carry.
No matter how bad the season has been, the Aggies will still show up for six more Saturdays, hoping things finally turn around, which will take an elite coaching effort from third-year coach Mike Elko and first-year offensive coordinator Holmon Wiggins.
However, the discussion over whether Marcel Reed will keep his starting job will continue before the Aggies host The Citadel on Saturday afternoon. Widely seen as the final "guaranteed win" left on the schedule, the Aggies should see time for backup quarterback Brady Hart and freshman Helaman Casuga if they build a big lead going into the second half.
Even though Mike Elko said after the game that Marcel Reed will continue as the starter, not playing Brady Hart at least is nonsensical given the state of the season and what the former four-star prospect can provide. Nevertheless, ESPN's Bill Connelly believes that Texas A&M will defeat The Citadel 53-0, which is somewhat comical given the offense's struggles.
Texas A&M will host The Citadel on Saturday at noon, and ESPN+ will stream the game.
