Nick Saban is arguably the most dominant college football coach of all time. The legendary former Alabama Crimson Tide leader is giving a peek behind the curtain.
On Monday night, ESPN announced a multi-part docuseries centered on Saban. Saban is currently in production and will detail its namesake’s life, career and impact.
“With my coaching days behind me, Ms. Terry and I have been doing a lot of reflection and realized we were ready to tell our story,” Saban said in a statement. “The team at Words + Pictures has encouraged me to really look back not just at my time at Alabama, but every stop along the way — and not just reflect on what happened but consider the process which made it happen.
“I interacted with a lot of players and coaches along the way and I’m happy to see that so many of them have contributed to this docuseries. There’s a lot to tell, and I’m excited to share it all.”
The docuseries will feature over 30 hours of interviews. More than 80 of them are with former players, assistant coaches, rivals, family and friends.
Saban served as head coach at Alabama (2007-23), LSU (2000-04), Michigan State (1995-99) and Toledo (1990), posting a 297-71-1 career record on the collegiate stage. Saban retired as the NCAA’s active leader in wins and ranked sixth all-time among FBS coaches. He won seven national crowns, six at Alabama and one at LSU.
Saban also coached the NFL’s Miami Dolphins for two seasons, between his time at LSU and Alabama. These days, Saban is part of the “College GameDay” crew.
