ESPN ‘College GameDay’ guest picker for blockbuster Ohio State-Texas showdown revealed

Glen Powell will be the celebrity guest picker on “College GameDay” when ESPN heads to Austin this weekend for the Ohio State-Texas showdown. It will Powell’s second appearance on the show. He previously went 7-5 when Alabama traveled to Texas to take on the Longhorns in 2022.
This week No. 4 Texas hosts No. 1 Ohio State. The Buckeyes won their first game of the season against Ball State, 56-3, while the Longhorns beat Texas State, 59-7. These two teams last met in Week 1 of the 2025 season when the then-No. 3 Buckeyes beat No. 1 Texas at Ohio Stadium. Ohio State would go on to make the College Football Playoff while Texas had to settle for a trip to the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl.

You’ll have to wait for Saturday to find out who Powell and ‘College GameDay’ crew are picking, but ESPN’s Paul Finebaum revealed earlier today that he believed Arch Manning would block out the noise and take care of business on Saturday.

Glen Powell’s first ‘College GameDay’ appearance
Powell made his first appearance as the guest picker on College GameDay on September 10, 2022. Powell predicted a big game for Bijan Robinson who ended up being held to 57 yards and one touchdown on 21 carries. Alabama beat unranked Texas, 20-19, as Bryce Young threw for 213 yards and a touchdown. Jahmyr Gibbs had 96 all-purpose yards and caught the touchdown pass.

Powell, 37, grew up in Austin watching “College GameDay” with his dad. In an interview he later said he hadn’t been as excited to be a guest picker as he had anything else in his life. And this was after he was cast in “Top Gun: Maverick.”
The actor was a big hit during his first “College GameDay” appearance after he donned a mullet in honor of Quinn Ewers, who still had a mullet back then.
