The 2026 college football season hasn’t started yet, but we know the destination for ESPN’s “College GameDay” when Week 3 rolls around.
The marquee pregame show announced on Friday, Aug. 21, that it will be heading to Oxford, Miss. for the highly anticipated showdown between the No. 11 LSU Tigers and No. 9 Ole Miss Rebels.
The game features Lane Kiffin’s return to Oxford for the first time since he left Ole Miss for LSU ahead of the College Football Playoff last season.

Lane Kiffin’s Ole Miss tenure
Kiffin led the Rebels to an 11-1 record and a spot in the CFP during the 2025 regular season. He then left to take the Tigers’ job and didn’t coach the Rebels in the CFP. Ole Miss advanced to the CFP semifinals before falling to the Miami Hurricanes.
Kiffin was the head coach of the Rebels for the previous six seasons, compiling a 55-19 overall record. He won 10+ games in four of his six seasons at the helm.
He’ll be tasked with turning around a Tigers program that only won seven games during the 2025 season.
Pete Golding takes over
Meanwhile, the Rebels will be led by Pete Golding this year after he did a great job with them in the CFP. He’ll have star quarterback Trinidad Chambliss back for another season as the Rebels try to make an even deeper run.
The Rebels and Tigers will play on Sept. 19 with a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff. The game will be televised by ABC.
ESPN announced the first two destinations for “College GameDay” in May. For Week 1, the show will pop up in Baton Rouge, La., for the Clemson-LSU game on Sept. 5. Then, on Sept. 12, “College GameDay” will visit Austin, Texas, in advance of the Ohio State-Texas showdown.
