The 2026 college football season has been in full swing, and the Georgia Bulldogs are dominating with a 5-0 record and ranked No. 2. Their next opponent will be the undefeated Alabama Crimson Tide. The Tide and Bulldogs are ranked one and two in the SEC standings, respectively. ESPN's Kyle Bonagura and Mark Schlabach made a few predictions for how the Bulldogs' season will turn out.
ESPN hasGeorgia getting to the College Football Playoff in the eyes of both experts. Bonagura has UGA securing the No. 1 seed and playing the No. 8 seed BYU Cougars in the quarterfinals. He thinks UGA will beat BYU and go all the way to the Sugar Bowl and defeat the No. 4 Miami Hurricanes. Bonagura projects Georgia to play Notre Dame in the national championship.
Schlabach has Georgia as the No. 2 seed and prevailing over No. 7 seeded Indiana in the quarterfinals. He thinks Georgia will play Alabama in the national championship after getting a victory over Ohio State in the Orange Bowl.
Georgia's matchup with Alabama is going to shake some things in the SEC, but also the playoff picture down the line. The Bulldogs are ranked higher in the US LBM Coaches Poll, but Alabama is favored. If Georgia can win, they'll be better off for the playoff and SEC championship race. If they lose, they're going to have to fight to get back in the SEC championship race and maybe have some luck on their side as well.
The Bulldogs will face Alabama on Saturday, Oct. 10, and it'll be their toughest test of the season so far.
