After a tumultuous week with a change at head coach, the Auburn Tigers will play a game on Saturday.

The Tigers are traveling to Nashville to play the Vanderbilt Commodores. Vanderbilt is 7-2 and is No. 16 in the initial College Football Playoff rankings that were released on Tuesday. The Commodores are also No. 16 in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll.

The ESPN Matchup Predictor has Vanderbilt as a big favorite to win. Currently, the Commodores have a 71% chance of winning the game. Auburn is at 29%.

Auburn enters the game at 4-5 and has lost five of six games since starting the season 3-0. Interim head coach D.J. Durkin is looking to turn the season around after the dismissal of Hugh Freeze. They will need to find some consistency on offense to keep up with Diego Pavia and Vanderbilt. Auburn has struggled the last two meetings with Pavia at both New Mexico State in 2023 and last season in a 17-7 loss at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Pavia threw for two touchdowns last season versus Auburn and in 2023 with New Mexico State. He passed for three in a 31-10 upset win over the Tigers. The Auburn defense should be up to the task. They have not allowed more than 24 points in any game this season. Only two other teams can say that. Those teams are the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the county with Ohio State and Indiana.

Auburn’s road SEC game versus Vanderbilt is scheduled for a 3 p.m. CT kickoff and will be broadcast by the SEC Network.
