Ethan Pritchard didn’t waste any time returning to the Florida State football facility.
The freshman linebacker attended FSU’s practice on Friday, Nov. 14. It was an emotional return for Pritchard, who was nearly killed when he sustained a gunshot wound to the head one day after the Alabama game.
As he remains in a wheelchair, his teammates, coaches and staff members showed nothing but love to the Pritchard as he continues his road to recovery.

Pritchard was released Nov. 13 from the Brooks Rehabilitation in Jacksonville, where he spent all this month working on his recovery, nearly two months after he was shot in the back of the head on Aug. 31.
Jerry Latimer, FSU’s executive associate director of sports medicine, described the scene and vibe surrounding Pritchard’s return as “electric.”
“He looks good, his spirits are good, it was heart-warming,” Latimer said. “My perception is everyone was up a notch (excitement).”
Pritchard continued to make positive strides after spending over a month in intensive care at the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.
The Sanford, Florida, native is hoping to walk again. He has been documenting his progression on his Facebook page, called Ethan Pritchard epstrongfsu #35 Family Update Page.
Pritchard is expected to make his first appearance at Doak Campbell Stadium since the tragic incident for the Seminoles’ game against Virginia Tech Saturday, Nov. 15. FSU is looking to pick up its fifth win on the season against the Hokies in its final home game of 2025.
Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. and will be televised on the ACC Network.
