Every Colorado football season opener during the Deion Sanders era

Entering the Colorado Buffaloes' 2026 season opener against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Colorado is 2-1 in season openers during the Coach Prime era (2023-present). CU began its season openers 2-0 under Sanders until last year, when the Buffs fell to Georgia Tech in Boulder.

Two of the three season openers have been against Power Four opponents, with TCU in 2023 and Georgia Tech in 2025. In between the two Power Four openers, Colorado faced off against one of the top FCS programs, North Dakota State. The Bison moved to the FBS this offseason as part of the Mountain West Conference.

Another Power Four opponent awaits Colorado on Thursday, Sept. 3, with the Buffaloes currently about a touchdown underdog against the Yellow Jackets.
