Every SEC football head coach's career record vs. Alabama

Over the last decade-plus, the SEC has been home to some of the greatest head coaches in all of college football.

A list headlined by former Alabama head coach Nick Saban, that fact will only continue during the 2026 season this upcoming fall, as numerous prominent names from a year ago such as Smart, DeBoer, Kiffin, and Sarkisian all return across the SEC.

In addition to that group, the SEC also added a number of new head coaches during the offseason who will get their first taste of action in the conference this upcoming fall, some of which are at some prominent programs.

Here is how every current SEC head coach has performed against Alabama head-to-head over the years. This list features only results for each during their head coaching career's.

Ryan Silverfield, Arkansas Razorbacks

Named as the head coach at Arkansas this past offseason following numerous seasons at Memphis, Silverfield has never faced Alabama head-to-head. That will not change in 2026, as the Crimson Tide and Razorbacks are not set to play this upcoming season.

Alex Golesh, Auburn Tigers

The newest head coach of the Auburn Tigers, Golesh is winless at 0-2 in his career against Alabama. Both of those games came while Golesh was at South Florida during the 2023-24 seasons, with Alabama winning both games of the home-and-home series, outscoring the Bulls a combined 59-19.

Jon Sumrall, Florida Gators

New in Gainesville this season after two seasons at Tulane, Sumrall has never faced Alabama. That will not change this season, as Alabama and Florida are not scheduled to meet in 2026.

Kirby Smart, Georgia Bulldogs

The head coach at Georgia since 2016, Smart has a lengthy head-to-head history with Alabama, but has struggled to defeat his former team at times, evident by the combined record of 2-7. Smart's two wins over Alabama came in the 2021 national title game, as well as the 2025 SEC Championship, and is set to face Alabama for a tenth time in 2026, coming in Tuscaloosa where he is 0-2.

Will Stein, Kentucky Wildcats

Stein, who enters his first head coaching job at Kentucky, has never faced Alabama. The Wildcats new head coach will face Alabama during the 2026 season.

Lane Kiffin, LSU Tigers

Now the head coach at LSU, Kiffin has faced Alabama multiple times before at different SEC stops such as Ole Miss and Tennessee, but has yet to defeat the Crimson Tide. Kiffin, who will face the Crimson Tide this fall, is a combined 0-5 against Alabama head-to-head during his career, but has come close twice, most notably at Tennessee in 2009 when a field goal in Tuscaloosa was blocked on the final play.

Jeff Lebby, Mississippi State Bulldogs

Entering year three in Starkville, Lebby has never faced Alabama as a head coach. That will change this fall when the two meet in Starkville.

Eliah Drinkwitz, Missouri Tigers

The head coach at Missouri since 2020, Drinkwitz currently sits at 0-3 head-to-head against Alabama in his career. Only one of those three games has been close between the two teams, a 27-24 road win for the Crimson Tide last season in Columbia.

Brent Venables, Oklahoma Sooners

Despite only entering year five at Oklahoma, Venables is among the most accomplished head coaches against the Crimson Tide head-to-head already. Venables has a winning record at 2-1 overall against Alabama, having defeated the Crimson Tide in both Norman and Tuscaloosa the last two seasons.

Pete Golding, Ole Miss Rebels

The former Alabama defensive coordinator has never faced the Crimson Tide as a head coach. Entering his first full season as head coach at Ole Miss, that will not change in 2026.

Shane Beamer, South Carolina Gamecocks

Beamer has come close twice to defeating Alabama during his first five seasons at South Carolina, but is currently 0-2. The Gamecocks' two games against Alabama under Beamer have both been decided by one possession, with the Crimson Tide winning in both Tuscaloosa and Columbia the last two seasons.

Josh Heupel, Tennessee Volunteers

Heupel, the head coach at Tennessee since 2021, sports a combined 2-3 record in his career against Alabama. The Volunteers' head coach picked up two wins over Alabama in Knoxville during the 2022 and 2024 seasons, both of which came in one possession contests.

Steve Sarkisian, Texas Longhorns

Sarkisian sports a combined 1-1 over his two career meetings head-to-head against Alabama, both of which have come with the former Crimson Tide offensive coordinator as head coach at Texas. The Longhorns' win against the Crimson Tide came in Tuscaloosa during the 2023 season, 34-24.

Mike Elko, Texas A&M Aggies

Entering his third season at Texas A&M, Elko has never faced the Crimson Tide as a head coach. That will change this upcoming season, as Texas A&M will visit Tuscaloosa in 2026.

Clark Lea, Vanderbilt Commodores

Lea is a combined 1-2 against Alabama as head coach at Vanderbilt, a position he has held since 2021. Lea's lone win against Alabama came in Nashville during the 2024 season, a 40-35 win over the Crimson Tide.
