Two former Ohio State football players, wide receiver K.J. Hill and offensive lineman Toby Wilson, have joined former Buckeyes offensive coordinator Brian Hartline at South Florida, the team announced Jan. 21.

A Lewis Center native and Olentangy High School alum, Wilson joins Hartline’s staff as an assistant offensive line coach. After graduating from OSU in 2024, Wilson spent a year coaching the offensive line at North Carolina Wesleyan, a Division III school.

Wilson started as a walk-on at Ohio State and played for four seasons, appearing in 10 games. After graduating in 2024, he worked as an offensive assistant for tight ends and as a strength intern under Ohio State strength coach Mickey Mariotti. He is the son of former Ohio State offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson.

Hill joins Hartline’s staff as an offensive analyst for wide receivers. He spent four years at Ohio State playing the position. Hartline was the wide receivers coach during Hill’s junior and senior seasons.

After his college career, Hill was drafted in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Chargers. He was not re-signed to the practice squad after the 2021 season and had a short stint in the Canadian Football League.

Hartline was announced as the head coach of South Florida on Dec. 3. He remained with the Buckeyes until the end of their College Football Playoff run.
