Expert Predicts 4-Star QB Will Mencl to Commit to Oregon Ducks

The Oregon Ducks entered the offseason after losing to the Indiana Hoosiers 56-22 in the Peach Bowl. While falling short of a national championship, they still went 13-2. Since getting eliminated from the College Football Playoff, Dan Lanning and his staff have stayed busy.

Among the top priorities has been high school recruiting. Oregon’s 2027 cycle already ranks 18th in the nation with four commitments. The Ducks continue to push for some of the cycle’s top players.

That includes quarterback Will Mencl out of Chandler, Arizona. Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 205 pounds, he is a four-star recruit, the No. 26 quarterback and the No. 372 player in the nation.

As a junior at Chandler High School, he completed 258-of-367 passes for 3,815 yards, 33 touchdowns, five interceptions and a 128.3 quarterback rating. Mencl also rushed for 741 yards and 17 touchdowns on 118 carries.

Combining his rankings and productivity, it’s become a high-powered battle for his commitment. Along with Oregon, the quarterback holds offers from the Miami Hurricanes, North Carolina Tar Heels, Washington Huskies and Penn State Nittany Lions.

However, on Thursday, Rivals’ vice president of recruiting, Steve Wiltfong, logged an expert prediction for Mencl to commit to Oregon. Of his 1,121 predictions, 1,022 have been correct, for a 91.17% success rate.

If he is once again correct, the Ducks will be getting an exciting and important addition. He would mark the first quarterback commit in Oregon’s 2027 cycle. However, they have already landed several pass protectors in offensive tackles Avery Michael and Drew Fielder.
