Faizon Brandon earns second consecutive SEC Freshman of the Week honor

For a second consecutive week, Tennessee freshman quarterback Faizon Brandon was named SEC Freshman of the Week.
He made his first road start for the Vols in a, 45-24, victory against Georgia Tech on Sept. 12 at Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. Brandon completed 10-of-21 passing attempts for 148 yards and two touchdowns.
He also recorded 22 rushing yards on five attempts versus the Yellow Jackets.
Brandon, who was named the Vols' starting quarterback on Aug. 24, made his college debut on Sept. 5, in Tennessee's, 56-9, victory over Furman at Neyland Stadium. He completed 13-of-17 passing attempts for 226 yards and three touchdowns, while recording 68 yards and two touchdowns on 10 rushing attempts.
Brandon went to Tennessee from Grimsley High School in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The Vols have earned 53 SEC weekly awards under head coach JoshHeupel since 2021 and have received SEC Freshman of the Week honors 13 times.
No. 14 Tennessee (2-0) will next play Saturday versus Kennesaw State (1-1). Kickoff between the Vols and Owls is slated for 7:45 p.m. EDT at Neyland Stadium. SEC Network will televise the contest.
