FAMU football's Antonio Camon withdraws from portal: Led team in sacks

Florida A&M football’s top quarterback hunter is ‘ALL IN.’

On Tuesday, Jan. 6, edge rusher Antonio Camon Jr. announced via X/Twitter that he was withdrawing from the NCAA Transfer Portal to remain with the Rattlers and newly hired head coach Quinn Gray Sr.

Camon, a 6-foot-3, 245-pounder, led FAMU in sacks in 2025 with four as a redshirt sophomore. The Tampa native added 19 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, and three pass breakups while the Rattlers finished 5-7 under now-dismissed head coach James Colzie III, who went 12-12 in two seasons.

The 2025 season was FAMU’s first losing season since 2017.

Camon transferred to FAMU from Pitt before the 2024 season, Colzie’s first year at the helm.

Returning to FAMU out of the transfer portal joins Camon with defensive end James Gardner Jr. and defensive back Justin Bostic, who opted to return to The Highest of Seven Hills on Monday, Jan. 5.

The Rattlers have also netted commitments from quarterback Isaiah Knowles, wide receiver Corey ‘Deuce’ Petty, and tight end Xavier Herndon, who all played for Gray for a duration of his three seasons at Albany State.

Terrell James, a defensive lineman from East Mississippi Community College, has also committed to the Rattlers.
