Fans Don't Agree With Notre Dame's College Football Playoff Ranking

On Tuesday night, the College Football Playoff selection committee revealed its initial rankings for the 2025 season.
The selection committee uses "performance on the field, strength of schedule, head-to-head results, and comparison of results against common opponents" to determine who belongs in the top 25.
As of right now, the top four seeds for the CFP would be Ohio State, Indiana, Texas A&M and Alabama.
If it was Selection Day, we'd get these first-round matchups:
- No. 12 Memphis vs. No. 5 Georgia
- No. 9 Oregon vs. No. 8 Texas Tech
- No. 11 Virginia vs. No. 6 Ole Miss
- No. 10 Notre Dame vs. No. 7 BYU
Is Notre Dame overrated?
Immediately after the CFP rankings were released, fans expressed their displeasure with Notre Dame's ranking. They believe Marcus Freeman's squad should be outside the top 10.
"t’s wild how much the committee favors Notre Dame," one fan said.
Another fan asked, "Why is Notre Dame ranked anywhere near the top 12?"
"I stand on my belief that Notre Dame should be not allowed in the CFP until they join a conference," a third fan argued. "Having the benefit of not having to play conference opponents is BS."

Suffice to say, Notre Dame hasn't won over the public's trust just yet.
The CFP rankings will be updated next Tuesday night. There should be at least one major change to the top 10 considering BYU and Texas Tech will face off.
