Fernando Mendoza surges to overwhelming Heisman favorite after Big Ten Championship

No. 2 Indiana football quarterback Fernando Mendoza is now the overwhelming favorite to win the 2025 Heisman Trophy following Saturday’s Big Ten Football Championship game win over No. 1 Ohio State at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, per FanDuel Sportsbook.
As of Saturday night, Mendoza sits at -3000 to win the award. He’s trailed by Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia at +1500, Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love at +40000 and Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin at +50000.
Mendoza finished Saturday’s game with 222 passing yards, completing 15 of his 23 attempts through the air for one touchdown and a single interception. He currently sits at 2,758 passing yards with 32 touchdowns and five interceptions, completing 72% of his passing attempts. Additionally, he’s gained 243 yards on the ground with six additional touchdowns.
He’d be the first player in program history to win the award, recognizing the most outstanding player in FBS college football.
