As college football's conference championship weekend unfolds on Saturday and teams await the final College Football Playoff bracket to settle, the LSU Tigers are just waiting to figure out which bowl game they will play in.

The Tigers finished the regular season at 7-5 at in 10th place in the SEC, so they probably won't be getting an elite bowl game. They could be getting one that they are very familiar with, though, as Brett McMurphy's final bowl projections have LSU playing the Houston Cougars in the Texas Bowl.

Not only did the Tigers play in the Texas Bowl last year, a game they won against the Baylor Bears, they have played in in three times since 2015. They are 2-1 all-time, but one of those wins was vacated as a part of the Les Miles punishment.

The 2025 Texas Bowl takes place on December 27 in Houston at NRG Stadium.

LSU will hope that they will be able to return to higher caliber bowl games with Playoff implications now that they have their new head coach in Lane Kiffin.

Kiffin has also stated that Frank Wilson will remain as the interim head coach for this bowl game. This will give Wilson one more game at the helm at the school he has spent a long time as an assistant for. He is also 0-1 all-time in bowl games, so he will want to grab his first win there.

No matter what bowl the Tigers play-in, Wilson will have his players ready to compete. They will find out their assignment on Sunday.
