Texas has wrapped up spring camp and began to make their way towards summer conditioning. This time of year is about one thing above all else: recruiting. Major visits will be unfolding all around the country over the next two months, with a number of top recruits completing their recruitments.
As we head into the frenzy that is early summer recruiting, it’s a good time to tab five recruits Texas fans should be watching very closely.
CB John Meredith
The #2 ranked player in the composite rankings is John Meredith, the elite CB out of North Crowley High School. He has garnered interest from just about every major college in the country, including Texas A&M, Ohio State and Alabama. Those will be the three other places he will visit early this summer, with Bama coming before Texas while A&M and Ohio State coming after. This is a recruitment Texas seems to be in the pole position for currently but this will be a battle. If the Longhorns can snag a commitment from Meredith, he’ll be the most valuable addition to the 2027 class.

WR Easton Royal – Texas commit
This will be the player you have to watch until he puts pen to paper. Easton Royal is the #2 WR in the country, only trailing Monshun Sales, another Longhorn target. Royal has gained massive interest from a number of major teams but Florida, Tennessee, Ole Miss and LSU are the main contenders with Texas. The good news is Texas has the final visit, something that can be very valuable in major recruitments. If Texas is going to keep Royal in this class, it’ll take a remarkable effort and fending off other suitors.

OL Ismael Camara
The offensive line has been the major topic of discussion this offseason. Camara is the top OL target for the Longhorns and would be a valuable addition to the class. At 6’6”, 340lbs, he has great size and moves as well as any OL in this class. The teams Texas will have to contend with are SMU, where he is right now, Texas A&M, LSU and Oregon. This recruitment will heat up fast over the next month but if Texas can get a commitment after his visit on June 12th, he could be an immediate starter.

TE Brock Williams
This is the player that could be a part of the Longhorns class soon. Brock Williams is the #4 TE in the country and holds offers from every major program in the country. The 6’5”, 242lbs TE brings an elite frame and athleticism to the table. He hasn’t officially scheduled his visits for the summer but Texas is on the shortlist to receive one. It’s impossible to know when a decision could be coming but more signs point toward Texas locking up a massive commitment here.

QB Ty Knutson – Texas commit
This is the sole recruit outside the top 100 but has an important summer ahead of him. The 3-star QB has earned an invite to the Elite 11 Finals this summer in Los Angeles. He’ll get a chance to compete against the other elite QB recruits, including Elijah Haven(Alabama) and Kavian Bryant (Texas Tech). Elite 11 Finals is a chance for players like Knutson to fly up the rankings and earn national praise. Knutson seems solidly locked in with Texas but this summer could be very productive for the signal caller from Smithson Valley High School.
