Five more USC football players plan to enter NCAA transfer portal

With USC’s 2025 regular season now in the books, transfer portal season is now in full swing. Earlier this week, the Trojanslost four players to the portal. On Thursday and Friday, we saw five more names added to that list.
Who were USC’s latest transfer portal entries? Let’s take a look:
Anthony Beavers Jr.
The fact that Beavers even has eligibility left is a bit surprising, as he spent five years with the Trojans. The linebacker finished his career with the Trojans with 49 total tackles and one forced fumble.
Matai Tagoa’i
Tagoa’i’s departure is a rather notable one for USC, as he was a top-200 recruit coming out of high school just last year. In his lone season in Cardinal and Gold, the linebacker recorded four tackles and a forced fumble while also seeing significant action on special teams.
Carlon Jones
Jones signed with the Trojans as a four-star defensive lineman in the class of 2024. In two years at USC, he had four total tackles.
Steve Miller
Miller arrived at USC as a three-star safety in the 2025 class. After one year with the Trojans in which he assisted on one tackle, Miller decided to take the money and run and hop on a jet airliner to his new school.
Makai Saina
Saina was a three-star offensive line recruit in USC’s 2024 recruiting class. In two years on campus, he did not see any playing time.
A note about the transfer portal timeline
The NCAA transfer portal will officially be open from January 2-16. However, due to restrictions caused by the academic calendar and the reality that pretty much everyone tampers nowadays, expect plenty of players to announce their intentions to enter the portal before then so that they can begin to look towards finding their new schools.
