The Spartans held a strong camp over the weekend that saw a slew of players make their way through East Lansing. There were countless workouts and drills that allowed athletes to truly showcase what makes them such special football players.
Through the blood, sweat, and tears, the Spartans identified five specific players they believe could fit their scheme and help serve as building blocks in the uphill battle of reestablishing a true football identity in East Lansing.
The offers ranged from offense to defense, 3-stars to 4-stars, and even included Michigan State's first offer to a member of the 2029 recruiting class. I will dive deeper into these players and have full article profiles on the potential future Spartans, where their tape will be evaluated in greater detail. For now, I wanted to give Spartan fans a quick rundown of the five players who received offers from Michigan State this week.
Brayden Tillman – QB – Traverse City West (Traverse City, MI) – Class of 2028
247Sports has yet to assign a rating to Tillman, but that doesn't mean much at this stage of the recruiting process. The 6-foot-4, 170-pound quarterback already holds an impressive offer list that includes Florida State, Purdue, and Wisconsin.
Michigan State currently has a loaded quarterback room, but competition is what drives successful programs. Bringing talented players into the fold and letting them compete is never a bad thing.
James "Booboo" Armstrong – QB – Hopewell (Aliquippa, PA) – Class of 2028
Speaking of competition in the quarterback room, the Spartans also extended an offer to Booboo Armstrong, who comes in as a high-end 3-star recruit according to 247Sports and a 4-star prospect according to the Composite rankings.
Armstrong is ranked as the No. 18 quarterback in the 2028 class by 247Sports and the No. 10 quarterback in the class according to the Composite rankings. His current offer list includes Arkansas, Auburn, Cincinnati, and Duke.
The talented signal-caller stands 6-foot-2.5 and 225 pounds and is also a standout tri-sport athlete.
Jayden Stephens – WR – Waverly-Shell Rock (Waverly, IA) – Class of 2028
The 6-foot, 180-pound athlete has been dominant at the wide receiver position and is currently rated as the fourth-best prospect in the state of Iowa.
Stephens is ranked as the No. 18 athlete in the 2028 class by 247Sports with an 89 rating, while his 0.8750 Composite score places him as the No. 31 athlete nationally in the class. It comes as no surprise that both Iowa and Iowa State have already extended offers.
Camden Noe – 4-Star RB/LB – Portage Central (Portage, MI) – Class of 2028
One of the top recruits in the state of Michigan received an offer from Michigan State on Sunday, giving him 11 Division I offers thus far.
The 6-foot-3, 215-pound RB/LB is an absolute tank and appears capable of making an impact wherever he ultimately lands. The 4-star recruit owns a 90 rating from 247Sports and a 0.9535 Composite score.
Noe currently ranks as the No. 6 recruit in Michigan according to 247Sports and the No. 8 athlete nationally in the 2028 class.
Austin Phillips – LB – East Noble (Kendallville, IN) – Class of 2029
The First Team Junior All-State linebacker became the first member of the 2029 recruiting class to receive an offer from Michigan State.
Phillips is a 6-foot-2, 200-pound linebacker who also serves as a powerhouse running back for his high school program. While he has yet to receive an official rating from 247Sports, he already boasts eight Division I offers, including Notre Dame, Louisville, Toledo, and UNLV.
The Spartans are wasting no time laying the foundation for the future of the Green and White. Fitzgerald continues to do the unthinkable, keeping recruiting momentum alive despite what many view as a difficult and uncertain landscape in East Lansing.
It takes a village to build a successful program, and Fitzgerald and his staff are doing everything they can to restore a winning culture to Michigan State football. Based on the flurry of recent offers, they're clearly focused on building that foundation one recruit at a time.
