Florida among biggest movers in CBS Sports' re-rank after Texas upset

Florida football snapped its two-game skid on Saturday with an epic 27-24 upset of the Texas Longhorns at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. The Gators had never won in Austin before and it had been almost a decade and a half since the program last beat a top-10 team on the road, making it the biggest achievement of the season so far.
Following Week 7's college football slate, CBS Sports writer Chip Patterson published his latest re-rank of all 138 FBS teams, which saw Florida move up 10 spots to No. 24. The Gators now sit between a pair of SEC peers in No. 23 Missouri and No. 25 Mississippi State.
"We have some real rankings whiplash for the Gators as Jon Sumrall's team fell 20 spots last week after losing at home to South Carolina, but now Florida is one of the biggest risers after stunning Texas in Austin," Patterson notes. "It's a complicated rankings profile with wins against Ole Miss and Texas but also losses to Missouri and South Carolina, which guarantees a high floor but also prevents moving up too high after the big win. "
SEC schools in CBS Sports' re-rank top 25 after Week 7
With Florida's return to the top 25, the SEC now has 10 schools in the CBS Sports re-rank's top tier this week, headlined by fourth-ranked Georgia, followed by Ole Miss (No. 8) and Tennessee (No. 10). The remaining schools in the top 25 are Alabama (No. 12), Kentucky (No. 13), LSU (No. 18), Texas (No. 20), Missouri (No. 23), Florida (No. 24) and Mississippi State (No. 25).
