Florida rose another spot in ESPN's latest 2027 team recruiting rankings as the program moved from No. 4 to No. 3 after its most recent batch of commits put the Gators atop college football with 16 blue-chip prospects in the cycle.
Jon Sumrall and the Gators have become one of the fastest-rising teams after a strong spring recruiting season that has carried over into the summer. Several national recruiting services peg Florida as a top-5 class, including the 247Sports composite, which has UF behind only Miami, Oklahoma and Texas A&M with an average recruit evaluation score of 92.25.
The program's most recent signings came last week when both four-star offensive tackle Kennedee Jackson and four-star defensive lineman Cahron Wheeler chose Florida over other Power Four suitors. According to ESPN's Craig Haubert, the Gators have 13 SC Next 300 commitments, matching top-ranked Texas A&M.
For Florida, five-star OL Maxwell Hiller remains the crown jewel of the class as Sumrall's most highly-touted prospect, "an OL who possesses a wealth of tools blending toughness and flexibility with sound technique and he could not only be an elite presence for them in the trenches but is a contender to able to quickly work his way into the mix upon arrival."
Haubert also singled out two more highly-heralded commitments for Florida's 2027 class.
"Sumrall soon stacked on top of that No. 1-ranked center Peyton Miller, who needs to continue to add mass but has experience at center and can play with leverage and be violent. He might need a little more time than Hiller but can be a steady, productive leader up front for several seasons. SC Next 300 OL Elijah Hutcheson shouldn't be overshadowed as an excellent pickup as well."
