Florida football lands commitment from Baylor safety DJ Coleman

Florida football landed its first commitment from the transfer portal on Sunday, January 4, as Baylor safety DJ Coleman pledged to play for new Florida Gators coach Jon Sumrall.
The 6-foot-1, 210-pound Coleman is coming off a junior season in which he started 12 of 13 games for the Bears, recording 46 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, 6 pass breakups., 2 interceptions and a forced fumble.
Overall, in three seasons at Baylor, Coleman posted 90 tackles, 9 pass breakups, 2 interceptions and a forced fumble.
Coleman committed after visiting UF's campus over the weekend and will help replenish a Florida secondary that lost safety Jordan Castell and defensive back Sharif Denson to the transfer portal. Denson, a former Under Armour All-American who started at the star position the last two seasons for UF, announced that he's committing to Ole Miss.

Florida had more than a dozen transfers visit the UF campus over the weekend, including Georgia Tech quarterback Aaron Philo, Georgia Tech wide receiver Bailey Stockwell and Penn State offensive lineman Eagan Boyer.
The FBS transfer portal opened on Friday, January 2 and runs through Friday, January 16.
