Florida football moves up in CBS Sports rerank, still outside top 50 after Week 10 loss

Florida football fell to the Georgia Bulldogs for the fifth-straight season on Saturday, coming up short against their biggest college football rivals in a 24-20 final.

Now 3-5 on the season, the Gators are two losses away from missing out on the postseason. There are three more Southeastern Conference matchups on the schedule — the Kentucky Wildcats, Ole Miss Rebels and Tennessee Volunteers, respectively — before closing out the regular season against the Florida State Seminoles.

The Orange and Blue need to win three of their last four games to earn a bowl bid. The clock is ticking on interim coach Billy Gonzales, who was handed the reins of a team in a tailspin when the program let Billy Napier go two weekends ago.

In the meantime, Florida remains buried in the college football reranks, including the latest one published by CBS Sports writer Chip Patterson. In it, he elevated the Gators two spots despite the loss, but still has the team outside the top 50 schools at No. 54 — four spots behind FSU.

That nestles Florida between the No. 53 UCF Knights and No. 55 Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
