Florida football enters “The Swamp” overhearing the injury status for Ole Miss star Kewan Lacy. But the running back isn’t the only notable game-time decision. Even Gators star wideout Eric Singleton is facing a similar fate.
College football insider Pete Nakos revealed Singleton’s situation on Wednesday evening.
“Florida WR Eric Singleton is a game-time decision against Ole Miss. There’s more confidence this week that he can go, but head coach Jon Sumrall has said he won’t rush a return to the field,” Nakos posted on the social media website X, formerly Twitter.

Lacy’s potential absence lingers over the No. 4 ranked Rebels. No doubt Ole Miss needs his hard-charging running to wear down Florida. So Ole Miss faces a current dilemma there.
But Singleton hasn’t provided Sumrall and Florida his dose of dynamic plays since his high-profile transfer. Singleton arrived to Gainesville via SEC rival Auburn. He left former Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze in catching a career-best 58 passes for 534 yards. Singleton opted to enter the College Football Transfer Portal and not play for new Tigers head coach Alex Golesh.
So if Singleton plays, he’s adding to the weaponry at the disposal of Sumrall and Gators quarterback Aaron Philo. The latter has delivered 721 passing yards with six touchdowns and two interceptions.
But the Gators have their own high-powered running back to turn toward in Jadan Baugh. He erupted for 162 rushing yards and pulled off the hat trick of scoring three touchdowns in the 44-39 shootout win over Auburn. Baugh enters “The Swamp” healthy and ready to go.
A Florida win certainly will spark a “Gators are back” conversation across America if they beat the top five foe.
