The Florida Gators are scheduled to face off against the Auburn Tigers in Week 3 for the first SEC matchup of the season. Leading up to the contest, however, Jon Sumrall shared an injury update for one of his star players who just so happens to be an Auburn transfer.
Reports indicate that wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr. is finally out of his walking boot, according to Zach Abolverdi of Gators Online. Singleton, along with defensive lineman Emmanuel Oyebadejo, were given the same update, as they are both deemed questionable.
“Both of them are out of the boot,” Sumrall said about Singleton and Oyebadejo. “Both are out at practice today. Both were very, very limited today. Sumrall said both are questionable.”

Singleton sustained the injury during Florida’s 66-21 Week 1 win over Florida Atlantic. He did not play in the program’s 52-3 Week 2 victory over the Campbell Fighting Camels. Being out of the walking boot already is a good sign of Singleton’s eventual return.
The senior wideout will have the chance to play as one of the Gators’ top pass options once he’s healthy. He has plenty of experience under his belt, having played at Georgia Tech for two seasons, then at Auburn for one. He joined Florida through the transfer portal with 162 receptions, 2,002 yards, and 12 touchdowns through 36 games played.
This Week 3 matchup will be the Gators’ first true test of the 2026-27 campaign. Both programs are undefeated entering this game, and a victory gives the winner an edge in the SEC rankings. Florida and Auburn will kick off at 7 p.m. EST on Saturday, September 19 in Jordan-Hare Stadium.
