Florida football's Jadan Baugh eclipses 1,000 yards, joins elite company

Florida running back Jaden Baugh became the first Gator to eclipse 1,000 rushing yards in 10 years.
After Baugh reached the milestone on a 5-yard carry against Florida State, his team quickly swarmed to congratulate him during a media timeout.
The last Gator to run for 1,000 yards was Kelvin Taylor, who did so back in 2015. Baugh is the 10th Gator in program history to reach the milestone.
The sophomore is also just the third underclassmen all-time to reach the feat, which was previously accomplished by Errict Rhett and Emmitt Smith, both of whom are the only Gators to reach the milestone mark twice.
“Jadan’s a workhorse,” said Florida interim coach Billy Gonzales earlier this week. “He’s an extremely gifted young man, which speaks to his size, his strength, his athleticism, his speed. He’s got great feet. I think we’ve seen him put his foot in the ground and be able to utilize a great tight spin move for extra yards, and then, again, he’s not just a strong power running back. He’s nimble.”
With Florida holding a 10-7 lead with roughly six minutes left in the half, Baugh already had just under 100 rushing yards in the game.
The sophomore took on more of a workload this season after Ja’Kobi Jackson went down with an injury back in September.
Notably, Baugh also entered the game with 210 receiving yards and a pair of touchdown receptions to add on to his historic season.
