Florida football will host one of the nation's most coveted recruits this week when five-star defensive lineman Jalen Brewster visits Gainesville.

The 6-foot-3-inch, 302-pound Cedar Hill, Texas, native remains committed to Texas Tech, but Jon Sumrall and the Gators have since emerged as the biggest threat to poach Brewster from the Red Raiders. The Rivals MVP will set foot on campus June 12.

Widely regarded as the top prospect in the 2027 class, Brewster made his way to Gainesville multiple times this spring as the coaching staff continues to engage the No. 1 defensive lineman in the country. For the program to host a recruit of Brewster's caliber on campus, several teams speak volumes about how favorably the Under Armour All-American views Florida.

LSU, Texas and other Power Four teams are also pursuing Brewster, as the blue-chipper has made the journey to other campuses since his pledge to Texas Tech in early October of last year.

The visit comes as Florida rides a substantial wave of momentum on the recruiting trail, recently securing their 16th top-level recruit and landing as high as No. 3 on 247Sports' team recruiting rankings. The Gators' 15 blue-chip commits outpace Texas A&M and Oklahoma for the nation's top spot.

Jalen Brewster's recruiting summary

Brewster is ranked No. 1 overall and No. 1 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite. The Rivals industry ranking also has Brewster at No. 1. He has garnered 40 offers, including 10 SEC programs.

According to 247Sports scouting analyst Gabe Brooks, Brewster is a "strong, explosive front-line defender with an impressive combination of size and athleticism" who is "not overly long, but broad-trunked and powerfully built" and who "flashes sudden redirection that fosters playmaking in the trenches."

The Lone Star State product is also "experienced inside and in a two-point edge alignment" and is "heavy-handed and stack-and-shed strong." Brooks concludes that Brewster "owns impressive combine testing numbers" and is a "potential high-major impact player in college who could become a bona fide NFL draft candidate."
