Florida is Still Top-10 Team in America, and Have Chance to Prove That Against South Carolina

Despite beating Ole Miss in dominating fashion, it feels like the University of Florida isn't getting as much respect as it did a week ago after dropping the game to Missouri.

That doesn't really come as much of a surprise considering how poorly it played against Missouri, but I still think it's important to recognize that this is undoubtedly one of the best 10 teams in America.

Florida is going to have to prove that throughout the remainder of SEC play, and things definitely aren't going to get any easier against some of the best teams in the country, but there's reason to believe that this team is going to be very above average and do exactly what it has to do on both sides of the football.

That's why I'm glad to see others still giving Florida the respect it deserves. Instead of overreacting to one bad game, it's important to recognize that this Florida team has been dominant in the four others, and there's more to say about that than four bad quarters.

“Florida only drops to No. 9 because of its win against Ole Miss last week. You can argue the Gators should be behind Missouri after Saturday, and I can’t say you’re wrong.

“I just see the Gators’ position to be as strong as Ole Miss at the moment. A blowout win balances out a blowout loss.

"These are the musical chairs I was talking about, with no answer that is 100 percent defensible. Do you drag everyone up or down? A lot of season still to go,” The Athletic wrote.

As The Athletic noted, the one thing is that there's still a ton of football left to be played. In two weeks, we might have a completely different analysis of what Florida is as a team.

We could think that it's the best team in America, or think that it's somewhere in the 10 to 20 range.

Talent-wise, I believe Florida is undeniable, at least on the offensive side. It'll be interesting to see how that translates to the rest of SEC play, but I have a lot of trust in Jon Sumrall to make sure his team plays good football.
