Florida Loses 4-Star Defender to Bitter SEC Rival

The Florida Gators started out string recruiting for the 2027 class under new head coach Jon Sumrall.
Over the course of the summer, the Gators have fallen in the rankings, but they still have a top 10 class. Per 247 Sports, UF is ranked No. 9 overall for 2027, with one five-star commit in offensive tackle Maxwell Hiller.
On Saturday, the Gators lost a four-star safety to rival Georgia.
Per Hayes Fawcett of Rivals, Adryan Cole, a native of Atlanta, committed to the Bulldogs over Florida, LSU, and Ole Miss.
"BREAKING: Four-Star Safety Adryan Cole has Committed to Georgia, he tells me for Rivals," Fawcett posted on X.
"The No. 4 Safety in the 2027 Rivals300 chose the Bulldogs over Florida, LSU, and Ole Miss. 'I spoke this into existence, I know younger me would be happy.'”
Florida already has a stacked commit list for 2027 coming from the secondary. Cornerbacks Raheem Floyd, Amare Nugent, Aamaury Fountain, and Kamauri Whitfield have already committed. Safety's Kailib Dillard and Robert Geathers III are set to join in 2027 as well.
Fans on social media reacted to Cole committing to Georgia over Florida and other SEC schools.
"Congrats to Adryan for finally making a decision, guess the Bulldogs’ pep talks beat the swamp gossip. Go Bulldogs!" wrote a fan.
"Does he know they haven’t won a playoff game in 3 years?" posted another.
"Congrats to Adryan for turning his future into a Georgia peach, guess his younger self finally got a good vibe check," commented a fan.
"About time Kirby Smart landed a recruit," posted another.
"BAM! Adryan Cole is a Dawg! Big get for UGA!" wrote a poster.
"Coach White, very under rated, Cole will fit right in!" hopes another.
It isn't too surprising Cole would choose Florida at this point in his recruiting process. He's from Georgia, and he'll be close to home by playing for the Bulldogs.
As already noted, Florida has two 2027 commits at safety right now, so there would be much competition for playing time, something Sumrall wants for next season.
